The Mr. Funky Teacher Student Leadership Kit

Leadership is something you practice. This kit brings the whole Leadership pillar together into a repeatable way of noticing people, making choices, taking action, and growing.

The Leadership Path

NOTICE → LISTEN → CHOOSE → ACT → REFLECT → GROW

NOTICE

Pay attention to people, needs, problems, possibilities, and your own impact.

LISTEN

Understand before assuming. Make room for perspectives beyond your own.

CHOOSE

Think about what matters, who is affected, and what kind of leader you want to be.

ACT

Leadership becomes real when you do something useful.

REFLECT

What happened? Who was affected? What worked? What would you change?

GROW

Carry the lesson into the next situation.

The 13 Leadership Traits

  1. Listening — understand people before rushing to respond.
  2. Enthusiasm — bring energy that helps people move.
  3. Attitude — choose responses that make progress more possible.
  4. Decision Making — weigh what matters and choose responsibly.
  5. Effort — keep contributing when the work is not easy.
  6. Responsibility — own your choices and follow through.
  7. Sensitivity to Differences — respect that people’s experiences, identities, needs, and perspectives are not all the same.
  8. Helping Others — support people in ways that build capability and dignity.
  9. Imagination — see possibilities that are not obvious yet.
  10. People Skills — communicate, collaborate, repair, and work with others well.
  11. Kindness — use your words and actions to protect people’s dignity.
  12. Improvement — look for ways to make yourself, the work, and the group better.
  13. Thankfulness — notice contributions, opportunities, and people worth appreciating.

Try It: Leadership in Action

Choose a real situation from school, home, a team, club, neighborhood, or group.

  1. NOTICE: What is happening?
  2. LISTEN: Whose perspective do you need?
  3. CHOOSE: Which leadership trait would help most?
  4. ACT: What is one useful move you can make?
  5. REFLECT: What effect did your action have?
  6. GROW: What will you carry into the next situation?

💡 Funky Tip

You do not need to use all 13 traits at once. Great leadership often starts by noticing which trait the moment needs most.

I can change the world.

Leadership is one way your choices move beyond you and begin affecting other people and places.

🎒 Take It With You

Leadership is not about being above people. It is about becoming someone who helps people and groups become stronger.
