Join a Discussion—and Help Others Join Too
A strong discussion is not a contest to see who can talk the most. It is a group building understanding together.
1. Enter With Something Useful
You can add an idea, question, connection, example, disagreement, clarification, or piece of evidence.
2. Connect to What Someone Else Said
Try: “I want to build on what ________ said…” or “I see it differently because…”
3. Make Room
If you have spoken several times, listen. If someone has not had room to contribute, you can invite without putting them on the spot.
4. Ask the Group to Think Deeper
Try: “What makes us think that?” “What evidence supports it?” or “Is there another way to see this?”
Try It
A discussion has become the same three people talking back and forth. What could one of those speakers do to improve the discussion?
💡 Funky Tip
Your goal is not just to get your words into the conversation. Your goal is to help the conversation get better.
I matter.
Your voice matters. So does creating room for other voices.
🎒 Take It With You
Add → connect → question → listen → make room.
