What Do I Care About?
Meaningful action usually starts with paying attention to what you genuinely care about—not what you think you are supposed to care about.
1. Notice What Pulls Your Attention
- What problems make you curious, frustrated, concerned, or hopeful?
- What people, places, animals, ideas, traditions, or activities matter to you?
- What do you wish worked better?
- What do you want to protect, improve, create, or understand?
2. Separate Caring From Assuming
Caring about something does not mean you already understand it. Before acting, learn more and listen to people who are affected.
3. Look for the Connection
Ask: “Why does this matter to me, and who else might see it differently?”
Try It
Make three columns:
- I care about…
- I care because…
- I still need to understand…
Choose one topic that feels worth learning more about.
💡 Funky Tip
You do not need a dramatic cause. A classroom routine, local place, younger student, community event, animal habitat, family need, or everyday problem can matter.
I matter.
Your interests and concerns matter—but so do the perspectives of the people connected to the issue.
🎒 Take It With You
Notice what matters → name why → stay curious → learn before acting.
