From Idea to Action
An idea starts becoming change when you turn it into a responsible next step.
1. Name the Change You Want
Finish: “We want ________ to be better because ________.”
2. Choose an Action You Can Actually Do
Start with something realistic for your time, age, resources, permissions, and setting.
- create something useful;
- teach or explain something;
- organize a service effort;
- improve a system or space;
- collect information;
- raise awareness responsibly;
- invite people to participate;
- test a small solution.
3. Think About People and Permission
Who needs to be involved? Who could be affected? What adult, school, family, community, or organizational permission might be needed?
4. Build the First Step
Ask: “What can we do next that gives us useful information or creates real progress?”
Try It
You want to reduce wasted paper in your classroom. Turn that idea into a first-week action plan with one observation, one small test, and one way to measure what happens.
💡 Funky Tip
Do not confuse a big idea with a good first step. Small tests often lead to stronger action.
I can change the world.
Change becomes more likely when your idea gains a clear, responsible next move.
🎒 Take It With You
Purpose → realistic action → people/permission → first step → learn and adjust.
