Hainipi (hi-Ne Pee)… that means hi, hey, or hello in a friendly way.

Hi everyone! Welcome to The BAGO Mic, powered by student voice—where students lead the way.

We are students from Winnebago Public Schools, broadcasting from the Winnebago Native American Reservation in Winnebago, Nebraska. This podcast is created by us… for the world.

Let’s start by introducing ourselves.

My name is Ky-Mani.

My name is Etta.

My name is Matthew.

Today’s episode is about: New Year’s resolutions and goals for 2026.

Before we begin, we want to share something we’re thankful for:

Family.

I’m thankful for family. I’m thankful for clothes.

I’m thankful for my family.

Now let’s get into it!

Once again, the topic we are talking about is New Year’s resolutions and goals for 2026.

What is something you are proud of from last year in school or in your life?

I’m proud of playing basketball.

Why basketball?

Because it’s fun. It’s fun.

I like basketball because it’s fun and you can be athletic.

I used to play softball in the summer. I didn’t like it. I always had to run all the time.

What is one school-related goal that you want to work on in 2026?

Get high grades.

Higher grades.

Mine is the same as Ky-Mani’s—get my grades better.

I want to work on my math more and get higher grades.

Why is this school goal important to you?

Because I can get better at math.

Mine is the same.

Because grades matter, especially if you’re going into college. And some math is difficult to do.

What is one goal that you have outside of school for 2026?

Get better at art.

Mine is get better at basketball.

I want to get better at art, not just art—drawing, painting, using clay, watercolors.

What might make it hard for you to stick with your goals?

I think distractions, like people telling me I should go to another sport or something, because I want to stick to basketball.

For me, it might be not having ideas for what to do in art.

What is one small step you can take to get toward your goal?

I could practice every day. Practice every day and I’ll get better.

Get better at shooting.

For me, I can practice my art more.

Who is someone who can encourage you and help you with your goals?

My mom.

Why your mom?

Because she cheers for me and tells me to do better.

She encourages you.

Mine is my mom too. She takes care of me.

For me, it would probably be my friends.

How can teachers or adults help students reach their goals this year?

They can work with them more and encourage them.

They could teach me, then I’ll get my grades better and that’ll let me get on a basketball team.

They can help people.

How can your friends support you throughout your New Year’s resolutions?

They can practice with me. They can encourage me.

Basketball practice.

Yeah, they could help me with basketball practice.

For math or grades, they could tutor you.

What is some good advice you would give someone this year?

Don’t give up and keep on trying.

Keep working on your goals and don’t give up.
