WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.

What we believe about ourselves matters.

Learning.
Leading.
Growing.

I can do hard things!

I am unstoppable!

I matter!

I am smart!

I can change the world!

Handle Disagreement Like a Leader

Disagreement is not automatically disrespect. A strong group can disagree and still work together.

1. Slow Down the Reaction

Before responding, make sure you understand what the other person actually believes or wants.

2. Disagree With the Idea, Not the Person

Try: “I see it differently because…” instead of attacking someone’s intelligence, motives, identity, or character.

3. Look for the Shared Goal

Ask: “What are we both trying to accomplish?” That common purpose can help the group move forward.

4. Know When to Compromise—and When Not To

Some disagreements allow a middle ground. Others involve safety, fairness, or values that need adult support or a clearer boundary.

Try It

Two group members strongly disagree about how to present a project. What could you say that keeps the disagreement focused on the work?

💡 Funky Tip

The goal is not to “win” every disagreement. The goal is to help the best thinking move forward while treating people with respect.

I can do hard things.

Staying respectful during disagreement can be harder—and more powerful—than getting the last word.
