Hi everyone, welcome to The BAGO Mic, where student voice leads the way. I’m your host, Katsumi, and today I’m excited to interview one of my classmates.
Can you tell everyone your name, your grade, and maybe one fun fact about yourself?
My name is Lorraine. I’m in fifth grade, and one fun fact about me is that I really like to play with my sisters.
What’s something you’re proud of about yourself?
Winning a volleyball tournament.
That’s awesome. What’s one thing that makes you you?
Drawing.
That’s a good one. What do you think you’re really good at right now?
Math.
Math is great. What’s something you want to get better at?
Reading.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A hairstylist.
Why does that job interest you?
Because my mom did hair, and she was one of my first customers when I practiced doing hair.
That’s really special. What kind of adult do you want to be someday?
I want to be a mom who really cares for her kids.
What does a perfect day in your future look like?
Sitting on the couch after my kids get home before Christmas break, drinking hot chocolate, and watching a Christmas movie.
That sounds really cozy. What’s something you really enjoy doing, and why do you love it?
I enjoy drawing because it calms me down when I’m upset and helps me relax.
What’s something you could talk about for hours because you love it so much?
Horror movies, because you never know when a jump scare is coming.
If you had an entire day to do anything you wanted, what would you do?
I would go swimming in the summer. When you stay inside too much, you miss out on fun with your friends, and that can be upsetting.
If you had your own YouTube channel or podcast, what would it be about?
It would be about people who have experienced trauma. I would want to understand how others feel and share my own experiences to help people.
What’s a skill or talent you’re working on that’s fun for you?
Drawing, because it helps me improve and feel better overall.
What’s one way you hope to help people or make life better for others?
I would like to give food to people who are homeless so they can have a good meal and feel respected.
What’s one problem in the world you’d like to help solve?
World hunger, especially for people who don’t always have access to food.
When you think about changing the world, what does that look like to you?
Helping clean areas where people live so they can have safer, cleaner places to rest and stay healthy.
What message do you want people to remember after hearing your episode?
Stay strong for yourself and don’t let other people control who you are.
What makes Winnebago special to you?
My culture. Without my culture, I wouldn’t feel like I belong, and Winnebago helps me feel connected and proud of who I am.
Who is someone who inspires you, and why?
My mom, because she taught me to stand up for myself and believe that I can do anything I want.
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you but should?
My drawing skills. I don’t think everyone realizes how much I love drawing and how good I am at it.
