WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.

What we believe about ourselves matters.

Learning.
Leading.
Growing.

I can do hard things!

I am unstoppable!

I matter!

I am smart!

I can change the world!

EXPLORE SOMETHING FUNKY • MATH IS EVERYWHERE

Math Is Everywhere

Math is hiding in patterns, games, nature, buildings, music, sports, money, maps, and everyday decisions. Explore the surprising ways numbers and shapes help us understand the world.

Make Your Brain Work

10 Amazing Math Discoveries

Discovery 1 • Nature Loves Patterns

Look closely at flowers, pinecones, honeycombs, shells, and snowflakes and you will find shapes, symmetry, repetition, and number patterns. What mathematical pattern can you spot outdoors today?

Discovery 2 • Zero Changed Everything

Zero may look like nothing, but it transformed mathematics. It lets us show an empty amount, hold a place in numbers such as 205, and build our base-ten number system. Imagine trying to write 1,005 without a zero!

Discovery 3 • Maps Are Full of Math

Maps use scale, distance, direction, coordinates, shapes, and spatial patterns to turn enormous places into something we can understand. Look at a map and find three different ways mathematics is helping you read it.

Discovery 4 • Music Runs on Math

Music is built from patterns in time. Beats can be divided into equal parts, rhythms repeat, and note lengths can be thought about with fractions. Clap a steady beat, then split each beat into two equal claps. You just used math to make rhythm.

Discovery 5 • Sports Are Packed With Math

Scores, averages, percentages, angles, speed, distance, time, rankings, and statistics are everywhere in sports. Pick a sport you enjoy and see how many different kinds of math you can find inside one game.

Discovery 6 • Buildings Begin With Geometry

Architects and builders use shapes, angles, measurement, scale, area, and patterns to turn ideas into real spaces. Look at a building near you. How many rectangles, triangles, parallel lines, and repeating patterns can you find?

Discovery 7 • Money Makes You a Mathematician

Every time you compare prices, estimate a total, figure out change, save toward a goal, or decide whether a deal is really a deal, you are using math. Imagine you have $20. What choices would help you make it last?

Discovery 8 • Probability Helps Us Think About Chance

Some events are certain, some are impossible, and many fall somewhere in between. Probability helps us describe how likely something is to happen. Flip a coin ten times. Did the results come out exactly as you expected?

Discovery 9 • Big Numbers Help Us Imagine Big Things

Huge numbers help us describe populations, distances in space, computer data, and other things too large to count one by one. A million seconds is about 12 days—but a billion seconds is more than 31 years. That is a big difference!

Discovery 10 • Math Helps You Make Decisions

Math is not only about getting an answer. We use data, estimates, comparisons, measurements, and patterns to make smarter choices. Think of one decision you made today. Was there math hiding inside it?

Think First. Don’t Guess.
